Example Applications |
|
|
Although the applications for ACEL™ high performance
diffusers are virtually unlimited, here are several examples to
help you select a diffuser for your application. |
|
|
LED Hiding
|
|
|
LED Downlights require varying degrees of LED hiding. In
general, using the least amount of diffusion enables the greatest
possible efficiency. We recommend choosing the lightest diffuser
(narrowest angles) that meets your LED hiding and uniformity
requirements.
For the most challenging LED hiding problems, use C1-85, C0-80, or
C1-60. For more typical applications, choose C0-55. For
less-challenging hiding, C0-30 or C1-35 are an excellent choice. In
all these cases, use the diffuser with the ACEL™ surface
facing out.
For can-type lights, consider the new Focusing Diffusers, which
will focus some of the light inward away from the bezel, increasing
total output. |

|
PAR and Narrow-beam Downlights
|
|
|
For PAR light applications, collimation and angle control
are major concerns, as is mixing/obscuring LED images in the far
field. In these cases, consider using narrow-angle diffusers, such
as C0-15 or C1-20. For an even better measure of angle control,
with excellent mixing, consider a focusing diffuser, that provides
simultaneous diffusion and focusing to a very smooth spot. |
|
|
Angle Control
|
|
|
For some downlight and architectural applications,
efficient angle control is more important than LED hiding. In
these cases, our diffusers offer a wide range of angle choices,
and can be used with the ACEL™ surface oriented inward toward the
source. In this orientation, LED hiding will not be as strong, but
a wider range of angles will be possible, and efficiency will be a
bit higher.
Non-symmetric angles are also available, such as elliptical
diffusers of various widths, and our unique bilateral diffusers,
that help a luminaire cast illumination uniformly over a floor or
work surface. One-sided diffusers are under development for wall
wash applications. |

Fluorescent and Linear LED
|
|
|
Fluorescent troffers can benefit from ACEL™ diffusers in
important ways. Try low-diffusivity products such as C0-30 and
C1-35 to provide smooth, efficient diffusion. Elliptical diffusers
can provide excellent results with high efficiency in fluorescent
fixtures and linear LED arrays when diffusion is needed primarily
along one direction. Dimension Series™ patterned diffusers can
take fluorescent downlights to a new level by adding distinctive
aesthetic appeal. |

Aesthetics: Beyond Perforated Metal
|
|
|
Bright View's Dimension Series™ diffusers are allowing
completely new look to LED and fluorescent lighting. Replacing
perforated metal can lead to large efficiency improvements, open
the door to a wide range of cutting-edge looks, and save cost to
boot! Our perforated-metal-look pattern has become a very popular
upgrade. For even more appeal, choose one of our stock patterns,
or design your own - we have rapid turn-around on custom patterns.
Dimension Series™ have also created new class of light where the
aesthetic can be completely defined by the diffuser using
large-area patterning and 3D effects. Several diffuser options can
be offered to allow simple drop-in customization. |
